What is our motivation? Part 2
What motivates people to become a follower of Christ and what motivates us to remain faithful until death?
1. To avoid Hell
2. To gain Heaven
3. Positive lifestyle
4. Delighting in God
Another basic motivator to become and remain a Christian is so that you can have eternal life in heaven in the very presence of God!
Jesus said, "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” - John 14:1-3
There are many questions regarding the specifics of when, how, and what will actually take place when our life here on earth is done. But we must remember, "the secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” - Deuteronomy 29:29
What IS revealed about our heavenly home is very inviting!
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’ " - Revelation 21:3-4
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.” - Revelation 22:1-5
“But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.” - Revelation 21:27
Sounds great doesn’t it? Imagine how wonderful it will be to live forever in a place devoid of all heartache, sin, sorrow, and pain! And to be in the very presence of God.... wow! It will be awesome to say the least!
These are only some of the things revealed in scripture about the eternal home of all Christians. We only have a very small amount of time here on earth to get our names written in the book of life. It is our number one priority in life! Once we are saved ourselves we humbly show the love of Christ to others and share the Good News with them so they can have eternal life too!
