As Bad As It Seems, Satan Is Not In Control

Call me strange, but I've made myself only watch the news about one night a week now. I don't want to be one with my head buried in the sand altogether, because in order to try and do my part, small as it may be, to make this world a better place, I have to know what the enemy is up to. And make no mistake, he is very busy, and is being very successful. Satan is no fool.

But as strong as he may be, and as many of our population as he has garnered, he still is powerless. We know who wins the war don't we? We know the outcome, so we of all people ought to be living as though we do.

The war against Satan has been raging since the beginning of time, and is nothing new, although it seems like it has greatly intensified in recent years. But let us remember a few things we are taught.

1. We are to fight the good fight (1 Tim 6:12)
2. Our weapons are not carnal (2 Cor 10:4-5)
3. The battle we wage is not against flesh & blood (Eph 6:12)
4. We don't concede (Eph 5:11)
5. Our army shows the right path (Matt 5:14)
6. We will win, period! (Rom 8:17)
7. Satan being the exception, we love the opposition (Matt 5:44)
8. Satan we can't love (1 Peter 5:8-9)
9. We must not be overcome (Rom 12:21)
10. Be alert, be prepared (1 Peter 5:8-9)
and many, many more instructions from the Bible.

God has always had control. Remember the story of Job? Satan has never had authority over God, but he does have the ability to rule our lives, IF we let him. That's the real war we are fighting, a spiritual war, where Satan wants us, and we refuse to let him have us. Thanks to Jesus, through His death, burial and resurrection, He gained the victory for us. We may suffer in various ways for a little while, while we live here, but this world is not our home, and God rules our eternal destiny (James 4:14,Heb 13:14)

As we consider the state of our country and world, and the battle between good and evil that is going on around us daily, let us consider what is really important in life, and it is nothing worldly at all. It is pleasing our LORD, and Him only (Matt 25:34-46)
