Our Changing World

Somebody can probably tell me exactly what year model the car in the photo is, you probably had one. I'm guessing 63-66? Remember when life was really like that? I do. I remember roadside picnics with no fear of harm, no worry and people pretty much did what they wanted and no one threatened them, belittled them or otherwise interfered with them. We had problems in the world, but in comparison to today, they were insignificant.

Back then, for a couple of decades, the Lord's Church was the fastest growing body of believers in the nation. Those were good times in that respect too. People were generally good. Wherever you were, you could talk "Bible" and not get sued, shot or beaten. It was almost generally accepted that everyone was a believer in God, and if they weren't, they pretty much kept it to themselves or at least didn't shout down those who did believe.

We could list so many things that have changed that we could fill up this and a few more posts. So much has changed. Our world, its people, our values, our morals, our tolerance, just to name a few. The changes have worked against Christians and made it more difficult to teach and convince people that God's way is the right way. But for certain, absolute certain, one thing has not changed. God! He hasn't changed His mind on anything, He hasn't altered His Bible to fit our times or our culture. He hasn't changed His mind on what is sin and what is not. God hasn't changed, and if we teach or believe that He sways with the ways of this world, we haven't read our Bible.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Heb 13:8) "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind..." (Numbers 23:19)

We probably can't bring back the 60's, a time when many of our parents thought the world was falling apart, and 50 years from now, our kids may well be in a much worse world than we live in now, and think the 20teens were "the good old days".

But we can always depend on God to be what He says He is, and do what He says He will do, and know that He is the same today that He was a thousand years ago, and will be the same a thousand years from now if this world continues. We must serve Him just as He commands, and we must stop listening to people who tell us God doesn't care about this or that anymore.
