Heaven Calling

God knows what we need before we ask (Matt 6:8) and we also know God is ever present and He is fully aware at every moment what is going on in our lives (Matt 6:6, Acts 17:27 & others). But what if my phone or yours rang today, and instead of the caller ID saying "United States" and it being another company willing to help us with an extended warranty on a vehicle we never owned, the ID said "HEAVEN" ?

Us: Uhhhh, uh, h-hello?

God: Well hello. I haven't heard from you in a while, thought I'd see how things are going, and if you need anything.

Us: Uhh, uh, well, ummmm, yes it's been a while God, I--I-I've just been so busy and-and-and......

God: How are things going?

Us: Well, uh, not so good I guess. I'm working two jobs to try to pay down my bills and credit card debt, and I just keep getting deeper. It seem every day...

God: I know you have credit card debt, but how are you, and what do you need from me?

Us: Well, my job isn't really what I was hoping for either, I have to work with this one lady who....

God: I know all about Judy at work. There is a Judy no matter where you work. But how are you, and what do you need from me?

Us: Well, I'm really worried about my my son Jason. The school isn't treating him right. He has this one teacher....

God: I know about Mrs. Wilson too. She's been there for 20 years and always with some issues, but how are you, and what do you need from me?

Us: Well I hate to mention it, but my car is about to give out, and I don't know what I'm going to do. It spits and sputters, and sometimes I'm not sure it's going to stop when I hit the brakes. I keep thinking....

God: I know about your car too. What I want to know is how are you? What can I do for you?

Us: (After some thought) God, I'm not really sure how I am. I feel choked by this world. I don't have the drive and motivation to pursue You that I once had. I feel surrounded by problems on every side, and I don't feel like You are there when I need you to fix all my problems. I know I haven't been trying as hard as I should, I just have so many other things going on. God, I guess I'm not doing very good at all, I guess I really need some help?

God: Have you forgotten my promises? ...“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Deut 31:8, Heb 13:5). I promised you that if you would come near to Me, that I would come near to you (James 4:8). I've told you that I care for you, and you can cast your cares on Me (1 Peter 5:7) I also said, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to [Me]" (Phil 4:6).

I'm here to help you all day every day. I want you to have "the peace that surpasses all understanding" not only to help you with life's issues, but to guard your inner being (Phil 4:7). I want you to have a 'gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in [My] sight". (1 Peter 3:4) I know what you need before you ask, but you haven't been asking lately.

Are you spending any time in My book? It is full of the help you so desperately desire, take some time and "Be still, and know that I am God..." (Psalm 46:10) I'm willing to "give you peace at all times and in every way..." (2 Thes 3:16) Don't forget what I did for you in sending my Son down there to live as a human, to live perfectly, so that His life could be a ransom for yours. He overcame the world, and gives you the ability to have good cheer in a world full of trouble (John 16:33).

My dear child, remember that "the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." (James 3:17). Live your life this way, bearing good fruit for Me, submitting to my desires for you, striving to live pure and holy, because I've called you "to live a holy life". (1 Thess 4:7)

Us: Yes, that's what's missing in my life. Lord, please help me!

God: When you need wisdom in your life, "you should ask [Me}, (because) [I] give generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5)

I suspect we'd never want to disconnect from God if we had Him on the phone. Why do we allow ourselves to become disconnected from Him through our daily struggles, problems and weaknesses when He holds the solutions? God's plan for our obedience and submission to Him is perfect, and so is His support. He's here to help those who are in His family, and so close all we have to do is pause and talk to Him!
