Compared to God

The state of Rhode Island according to a Google search, is 1,200 square miles. That's about 1.33 times the size of the County of Scurry in which I live in the great State of Texas. You can fit almost 300 Scurry counties (298.4) into the state of Texas, and you can fit Texas into Alaska 2-1/2 times.

How important is perspective? Everything we do, everything we know, everything we are, when compared to God, needs to be evaluated in perspective.

Compared to God, we are all but powerless with what we can do. Compared to God, we are ignorant with regards to what we know. Compared to God, we are nothing as far as who we are. Some people are extremely powerful, some extremely intelligent, and some are extremely important, yet in comparison to God, no human being is more than a pebble on a mountainside or a grain of sand on the sea shore.

So with that in mind, and not trying to degrade anyone, why do some think they are smarter than God, so as to determine that they know better than the written word God has provided us with? Why do some think they yield power or importance to the degree that they sometimes try to set themselves up in a position to act in place of God? How do men and women reach a place where they forget their position in the overall picture of God and man?

Just look at the things man has accomplished, and some are beyond belief, yet compared with God and His creation, none hold a candle in comparison. The Psalmist said these words, "He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names." (147:4) "When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?" (8:3)

By the blood of Jesus, God is mindful of us. Through this blood, shed for our forgiveness, we can be in Christ and Christ can be in us, and Christ is in God. Because we have escaped the corruption of this world through Jesus, we are "partakers of the divine nature" (2 Peter 1:4)

This great and powerful God, who we can't compare ourselves to, chose us before He ever created us, to be blameless and holy in Him, that through His redemptive blood, we can have forgiveness of sin, and be adopted children according to His good pleasure and will. No one can say for sure why this was God's plan for us exactly, as He could have been the puppet master and we could have been nothing more than worthless creatures left to fend for ourselves. But instead, He loved us, blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm through Christ, and purposed to bring everything in heaven and on earth under Christ together for eternity, where we will walk with Him, and be His possession, to His praise and glory. (Eph 1:3-14)

This God that far exceeds any possible image we can fathom in our own minds, wants us to be with Him in endless life through eternity. I'm not sure I can put that in perspective as it exceeds my comprehension, yet that's exactly the case for you and me, if we love Him by keeping His commandments, and if we submit to Him recognizing our inferior position, and if we will worship Him as King of our lives. All of this He offers to us, while in comparison to Him in the grand scheme of things, we are absolutely nothing, and He is absolutely everything. What a loving God we serve.
