Really Good News

Jesus is coming soon,

Morning or night or noon,

Many will meet their doom....

This song spells out the message of the church, the same message that has been our mission statement for almost 2000 years. "Soon" is relative, because to God, a thousand years is like a day, and a day like a thousand years (2 Peter 3:8). The very next verse (9), says "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

Our mission is more than just a mission, it is also our duty to warn people that Jesus is coming, at a time they least expect Him. (Luke 17:20-37) Yes, billions have lived and died without Jesus coming and that may be our fate as well, but He will come at the time God has appointed, to end life as we know it and call all men of all ages to judgement before their Creator.

Because of that, God requires us to live a life of repentance and obedience, so that we can be found righteous before Him at His coming, righteous and alive through the blood of Jesus. Scripture is so plain and clear about the necessity to have our sins cleansed, and to be in Christ at the time of His coming, and it outlines the one and only way to accomplish that. It is so sad that so many are not willing to prepare themselves to be found blameless when they meet Jesus, either because they don't truly believe in Him and that He will come back or they don't truly believe in the consequences of sin and being cut off from Him for eternity.

Hell is real and it certainly is to be feared. Nothing on this earth can compare to what is reserved for Satan and those outside of Christ because we are time oriented, we can't comprehend eternity. Being banished to a place of punishment, and knowing that there is no way out, ever, no death and no end of time, if only we could fully comprehend that, I truly believe people would flock to Jesus.

While our message to the lost must include the harsh reality of what being lost will result in, our message is much brighter! Our message is that salvation from being lost is available, a way to never experience what Hell is, and to live eternally in the city of mansions prepared for those who obey Christ. (John 14:1-4)

This message in scripture is called the 'GOOD NEWS', because it is absolutely that, the news of salvation from the wages of our sin. We pray today that if you have not heard the GOOD NEWS that you will call us, and let us open the Bible up and show you the Good News that Jesus came down here and gave His life to save us from an eternal death (separation from God in Hell). There is a way to salvation, but only one way, Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

Our prayer is that you will experience the saving grace that Jesus offers those who will both accept and obey Him. We can be confident of our salvation when we know what He teaches, and know that we are living those teachings in our daily lives through obedience to His commands (1 John 1ff).

As the song above continues, it says:

All of the dead shall rise,

Righteous meet in the skies

Going where no one dies,

Heavenward bound

Telling this world goodbye

Homeward we then shall fly,

Glory to share

That is the message of the church that belongs to Christ!
