Pursuing Righteousness

"For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil” (1 Peter 3:10-12).

Let it be our purpose to be righteous. We can't be on our own, not totally. God says all people sin, and that includes us, but we can still be righteous in His sight, through the blood of Christ Jesus.

When we are righteous, the Lord looks favorably on us, and He listens to our prayers and petitions. This is one of many privileges of being a Child of God not offered to the unrighteous. In the verse above, not only does God not listen to them, He opposes them. He faces us, with outstretched arms, but turns His back on the unrighteous.

We know good from evil 99% of the time. Let us live our lives pursuing what we know to be good. “Depart from evil and do good” (Psalm 34:14). “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good” (3 John 11).

Help us, Lord!
