One Master

In the sermon on the mount in Matt 6, Jesus says we can’t serve two masters. I think the pull this world has on us sometimes has us trying to serve more than two, as we struggle with money, managing our time, having our interests devoted to other things like sports or music or even being a slave to our jobs. None of these are inherently sinful in and of themselves, but if they consume us and God falls to the bottom of our list of interests instead of remaining at the top, now we got a problem we must fix.

Jesus says we can’t serve God and ______(fill in the blank). His example is money in Matt 6 but the lesson He’s teaching applies to anything that competes with God.

As He says, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money” (Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭24‬ ‭NIV‬) the thing He’s stressing is we must choose God, and serve Him.

A little mirror check is necessary for us all from time to time. Who are we serving? Are we being led by worldly things or by God?May be an image of 2 people, cloud and text that says '...those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. -Romans 8:14-'
